Health Information for Foreigners

The Law on Employment and its by-laws stipulates that physical examination is required for all foreign laborers, housemaids and caregivers upon entry into Taiwan, and again after 6, 18, and 30 months of employment.
Items include:
  • Chest X-ray, HIV antibody test, syphilis serum test, general physical examination (include mental condition), fecal test for intestinal parasites, and test for leprosy.
  • Laborers who fail any item of the examination will be deported within seven days.
  • The Police Department and the Council of Labor Affairs will be informed at the time of the deportation.
  • The Department of Health has also set up telephone hot lines (2375-9800 ext 1954~56), offering advise to foreign laborers
